The District Awards Reception is an evening of fellowship and gratitude as we acknowledge our adult volunteers for their hard work and dedication. Outstanding leaders at the unit and district levels will be recognized. All volunteers in Soaring Eagle District are invited to attend.
The District Awards Reception will be held in lieu of the February roundtable. A formal program will begin in the chapel at 7:00 pm. The group will retire to the Cultural Hall immediately after the program for mingling, refreshments, and a special presentation.
Please show your Scouting spirit by wearing your BSA field uniform and bringing your unit flag for display.
Please note: the District Awards Reception replaces the District Dinner, and there are no registration fees for attending this special event.
Due January 11, 2018
Nominate Scouters who have served youth above and beyond the call of duty at the unit and district level for special awards. This is an opportunity to help recognize and thank leaders and volunteers that helped the unit succeed in delivering a great Scouting program. All nominations are confidential. To avoid possible disappointment, do not notify the nominee of this action. Awards are presented to volunteers at the Soaring Eagle District Awards Reception:
Family of the Year Award
The family is an important part of Scouting. Family support for each youth and adult ensures Scouting success. Parents who volunteer as leaders provide vital support for their children, and the character development of Scouting’s youth make a parent’s job a bit easier and more fulfilling. The Family of the Year Award recognizes a family within the district who has made a significant contribution to their unit, community, and district.

Partners in Scouting Award
Scouts and Scout units rely on the support of community partners to provide a successful program. Community partners consist of businesses, churches, individuals, schools, and service organizations. Community partners contribute facilities, human resources, and financial resources in order to support Scouting. The Partner in Scouting Award recognizes an outstanding entity or individual in the community that generously supports Scouting in the Soaring Eagle District.

Soaring Eagle Award
Many Scouters make a significant impact to Scouting, but their service may not be well known throughout the district. Their work is important and directly affects the quality of scouting at all levels. The Soaring Eagle Award recognizes Scouters who have excelled in service to Scouting. Although consideration for the Soaring Eagle Award is primarily given to a Scouter’s service within a unit, service at the district level is also taken under consideration.

District Award of Merit
The District Award of Merit is a council award presented by districts in the same manner that the Silver Beaver is a national award presented by councils. The award is available to Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level. The award is made available annually on the basis of one for each 25 traditional units or fraction thereof. The district need not present all the awards to which it is entitled each year. It is not appropriate to nominate a Scouter who has already received this award. A professional Scouter or council employee may not receive this award based on employment service. However, a professional Scouter or employee who also serves as a volunteer Scouter may be eligible, based on volunteer service.
